    ADVANTAGES of the HS-1 Doctor Holder
    . Top plate is carbon fiber and is, therefore, not subject to stress fractures like metal or plastic top plates. It    cannot be deformed by impacts or incorrect handling.  
    . Only one screw (an Allen Key type) needs to be undone to enable the entire top plate to be removed.    
    . The top plate, complete with the fingers, slides out of the machine. This makes cleaning very easy. It also    allows easy access to the tube pocket, so that changing the tube is a breeze.    
    . There is only a ‘single’ tube (not the traditional two tubes). This means it is twice as quick and easy to    change vs. conventional holders.    
    . Spring steel seal the tube pocket, which helps keep it clean, which, in turn ensures more even load    pressure and better doctoring.    
    . The rear seal is also spring steel, which provides better and longer sealing than conventional rubber or    synthetic seals (which wear fast and allow contamination of the tube pocket).    
    . The HS-1 can be delivered with either “K” or “DST-E” type fingers (meaning that no new blades with    different rivet patterns would be required). As information, the “K” type finger is the default finger if no    alternative is specified.    
         
    Regarding the ‘slide out’ type holder: this is mounted on a T-Bar, which allows the holder to be slid out to the side of the machine.However, the top plate still needs to be laboriously removed from the holder body in order to clean, or to change tubes.    
       

   FUNCTION of the HS-1 Doctor Holder
. The top plate (1) is fitted to the round centre rod by using small bearing housings (2) .
. With the loading tube (4), which is located on an isolation list the top plate and therefore the doctor blade (5) can be loaded to the roll.
. In the upper area of the top plate, fingers (6) are mounted for fitting the doctor blade (5) .
. The fingers (6) are made of GRP and they are used for guidance and proper and safe fitting of the doctor blade (5).
. When loading the tube (4) with air, the top plate (1) rotates around the centre rod (3) and the blade (5) is loaded to the roll surface (7).
. Even when loaded to crowned rolls an even pressure distribution over the whole surface length will provide to the doctor blade (5) due to the flexible top plate (1).
. To release the top plate (for example to change blades) the pressure in the loading tube (4) will be released and the stainless steel sealing spring (8) pushes the top plate and the blade (5) away from the roll surface (7).
. For the operation of the Clouth® HS-1 Doctor Holder a small control panel will be supplied together with the holder. With the control panel the loading pressure can be adjusted according to the pressure diagram.
